3 Months Old

Dear Maddi,

Sorry I'm a few days late with this post! You are officially 3 months old and growing every day. This past month has been exciting for you, your first thanksgiving, your christening and getting ready for Christmas.

A tragedy occurred this weekend in CT. I am sharing this with you because I want to be honest with you about the world and what is going on around you. On Friday, a man 20 year old forced himself into an elementary school and killed 26 students and teachers. I don't want this to scare or upset you about going to school, but rather remind you that in school, you should strive to be the best you can be and learn any and everything you can. We want you to succeed everyday and will always support you.

You continue to amaze me. Listening to you talk makes me so happy. You wake up every morning ready for a full conversation. You are lifting your head more often and for longer. You'll be sitting up in no time. You gave us a couple nights of full sleep but it didn't last. Hopefully you'll realize how much we like sleep soon!

It was so nice to have you around for thanksgiving this year. Although you didn't get to eat any turkey or stuffing, you still sat with us at the table. We celebrated thanksgiving with our family (mommy, daddy, Charlie and Abby), Grandmom and Grandpop K, Grandmom F, aunt Nicki, and your great grandpop and Chloe, of course. Your cousins came over later for dessert.

A few days after Thanksgiving was your christening. Aunt Nicki and Uncle Steve are your godparents. We chose them because we believe they will be great example for you as you grow. You looked gorgeous in your dress and the party was fun! It was nice to see everyone celebrate your special day. You cried during the baptism, but it's okay, you were hungry. You were baptized because it is important for you to have God in your life. Always trust in God. Things might not always turn out how you want, but don't lose faith. Keep believing.

Christmas is coming really soon. 4 more days!!! You won't remember it this year but you've been a good girl so I'm sure Santa will spoil you!!

Happy 3 Months, Madeline!

Can't wait to spend the next week with you!

Love,
Mom

2M Ouch!

Dear Maddi,

Today was your 2 month doctor's appointment. It was exciting to talk to the doctors about how much you've grown since last month. They weighed you (12 lbs 11.5 oz), measured your height (22.5 in) and check to make sure you are growing properly. You were talking and looking around before the dreaded needles came. You had to get 4 needles, 2 in each leg. When you started to cry, I want to cry with you. You cry for at least 10 minutes. You finally fell asleep when we got home, but when you woke up, she screamed even louder. You ate a little bit but nothing calmed you. Daddy was trying to rock you and figured out you want to be in your swing. I'm sorry you had to go through that. It makes me really sad to hear and see that you in pain. Hopefully you'll be feeling better tomorrow.

Feel better baby.

Love,
Mom

2MO

Dear Maddi,

Today you are 2 months old. These 2 months have flown by and I wouldn't change a thing. It is amazing how much you have grown this past month. You are pretty good at holding your head up; definitely much less wobbly than last month. You are beginning to fill out, even have a couple rolls in your arms and legs. And your chubby cheeks! I just want to pinch them all the time.

You are using your voice for something other than crying, "talking." Sometimes we have "long" conversations; I hope you know you can always talk to me. It already sounds like you are trying to say "No." I hope that doesn't become your favorite word.

You have been trying hard to get your legs moving during tummy time, but get quickly frustrated when you don't go anywhere! Keep trying, you'll get it. You are starting to smiling and giggling. You actually crack yourself up sometimes. I love it! My favorite is when you grip my fingers when I'm feeding you. You hold on so tight!

We had our first family trip to the Poconos. We went to celebrate your cousins' (Audrey and Baron) christening. You were able to meet more of your family up the mountains. We only stayed over for a night. You were pretty good in the car on the way there and back. We will be visiting the Poconos a lot as you grow up.

We decided not to dress you up for Halloween. It was cold out after Hurricane Sandy so Aunt Nicki had me buy you a Halloween dress instead. Next year, we will going trick or treat-ing. I can't wait!!

You weren't too happy about the photo shoot!
Daddy has been home with you for the past two weeks and I'm pretty jealous I have to go to work every morning, but we make up for it over the weekends. I hope you don't mind.

You have started to like your baths each night. Sometimes you even splash around in the water. You do NOT like getting out of the tub though, it's too cold! I don't like it either. I'm trying to read with you each night, I hope you like reading like I do.

Here are some pictures of the past month:
Happy 2 months, little girl! We love you sooo much!

Why "Letters to Maddi"?

So I have been searching the walls of Pinterest for tradition ideas for Maddi. I was trying to find something I can give to her when she is much older that includes details of her life from the start. My original plan was to write her a yearly letter about her developments, accomplishments, and achievements but quickly realized one letter is not enough to cover 365 days in her life.

Fast forward a few days of thinking = "Letters to Maddi"

My goal is to write a monthly letter (or more) to my daughter. I want to combine these letters to give to her one day (wedding, first day of college, 18th birthday, etc.) So today on her two month birthday, I begin "Letters to Maddi."
